Why are we getting married?

Because we love each other, support each other, need each other, complement each other, find each other funny, understand each other, want each other... and sooo much more each other... but there will be plenty of time to talk about that in September.

The important thing here is, that we want to share this moment of love and happiness with you... so please find below everything you need to know to make our wedding an unforgettable weekend for all of us -> THIS INFORMATION IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE, so please help us and provide feedback and come back once a month or so to check for updates!!

Kati and I got engaged on December 20th, 2009 on the summit of Mount Ossa, 1617m, the highest mountain of Tasmania in Australia. The picture was taken a couple of minutes after Kati stopped crying tears of joy (I assume) - so about half an hour after I proposed ;)

What kind of wedding gifts should I bring?

This is an easy one...
The best way to support us at this stage is a monetary contribution to our new flat!
At the time we are writing this, we still don't know what kind of flat it's gonna be, but hopefully until September we can update this entry and add some more color to the picture!!

Where shall I sleep?

We want you all to be with us and stay with us! Therefore, we have rented two big wonderful houses at a lake that sleep a total of 80 people - so round about all of you!

There is NO need to book your own accommodation! We will ask you for a contribution to cover the accommodation expenses and take care of the rest in the form of an all-inclusive weekend package (Fr-Sun). And: The first 30 people who are interested to stay until Monday will get the 3rd night for free on top!

Confirmation

Please let us know until 01.07.2010
- if you are coming
- how long you would like to stay (Fr-Sun or Fr-Mon)
- if you are coming alone or bringing your partner

Payment

Please send us the fee to the following account:

Subject: Wedding +"your name/s"

Starting TODAY and up to the 01.08.2010, we can offer you a fee of 80 Euro per person (as it facilitates the planning with our event partners immensely) for the entire weekend.
After that, the contribution may have to increase, so try to avoid that...

How do I get to Feldberg?

Feldberg in the "Feldberger Seenlanschaft" is part of a natural reserve located 130 km north of Berlin in Mecklenburg-Strelitz. The best way (by far!) to get to the wedding will therefore be by car. However, there is a train going to Neustrelitz from where you could get picked up by one of the other guests...

Location

Drostenhaus Feldberg
Amtsplatz 4
17258 Feldberg, Germany

Or click here to see it on google maps

Flights

for people coming from places other than Berlin or Hamburg, it may make sense to fly to Berlin and take a car from there. There are two airports - Tegel and Schönefeld. Both have car rental companies there. If you need to get into the city: From Schönefeld you will need about 45min. to get to town via train (runs regularly and is cheap). Tegel is closer to town, but without realiable public transport, so you will need to take a taxi.
Easyjet flies to Schönefeld (and has the only direct connection from Barcelona), otherwise Lufthansa, Germanwings, British Midlands (from London), Iberia, Air Berlin... are all good candidates.

Rental Cars

If you are coming by train or plane to Berlin and want to rent a car, you can get cheap deals at

They have a 15 Euro/day Smart for 2, for example, but are not located at the airports or the station - so you would have take a taxi into town first.

For rentals from airports/train stations try

for 3 day rentals and longer. Or try to get a weekend special at one of the well-known rental companies.

Carpool

Since there are many of you who need to go from Berlin to Feldberg, or from Düsseldorf/Cologne to Feldberg, it will make sense to share cars with others. If you are interested in doing so, please send an email to Willi (shotgunwilli[a]gmx.de), saying when you plan to leave Berlin, want to be back in Berlin, whether you offer a car or need a car and whether you are living in Berlin or arriving (Tegel, Schoenefeld, main station). Same goes for cars leaving from Düsseldorf/Cologne.

Train

There is a train from Berlin Hbf to Neustrelitz Hbf that takes 75 minutes. From there you can continue by bus or arrange for a pickup with us...

Other

In case you have another ideas or questions, just let us know and we will make sure to get you to Feldberg!

What shall I wear?

The general idea on dress code is that we want everybody to be comfortable and relaxed. So don't bother bringing a dark suit and tie or coming in high heels, unless you really want to ;)
Remember, this is a 3-4 day event and most of it will hopefully be outside and some of it maybe even in the water.
-> Definitely bring some sports clothes, shorts/bikini and a warm jacket/umbrella, just in case.

For the two formal events we imagine the following:

Friday

boys/girls: jeans and chequered shirt/blouse

Saturday

girls: flowery, summery dress (attention: much of the event is on a lawn, so no stiletto heels!)

boys: light colored summer suit or similar (side note: fashion seems to dictate that men wear scarfs this summer)
